1/1/20: Skiing along the Marsh Stream. 1/2/20: Sunrise over Basin Pond. 1/2/20: Skied to this beaver lodge along the Marsh Stream. 1/3/20: Paddled out of Belfast Harbor. 1/4/20: Hiked near Thistle Pond as part of the annual Christmas Bird Count, then detoured uphill for a first-time visit to this hemlock grove. 1/5/20: Skied the back woods in fresh snow. 1/6/20: Walked the trails of Moose Point State Park. 1/7/20: Skied past this beaver dam and along the Marsh Stream. 1/8/20: Skied through snow flurries by moonlight. 1/9/20: Skied up the moon. 1/9/20: A waxing moon climbs up through the trees. 1/10/20: Lingering light over the Marsh Stream. 1/11/20: At temps of 50 degrees, Leslie & I paddled up the Passy from downtown Belfast. 1/12/20: Came upon this massive oak while traipsing through the woods. 1/13/20: GPS track as I ice-biked on newly snow-less Basin Pond. 1/14/20: Studded tires and headlamps are game-changers. 1/15/20: Biked The Basin in the remaining daylight. 1/16/20: Snow biked in the woods and on the pond. Later skied and shoveled to make it a triathlon. 1/17/20: Walked the Little River Trails in Belfast in chilly sunlight. 1/18/20: Backcountry skied the Basin Pond trails. 1/19/20: Left tracks in the fresh new snow. 1/20/20: First time visit to this majestic pine in the late light. 1/21/20: Skied past these lovely fir trees while heading uphill through fresh powder. 1/22/20: Followed coyote tracks upriver by headlamp and starlight. 1/23/20: Enjoyed the late light while skiing along the Marsh Stream.
2020 — A Year Outside
1/24/20: Backcountry skied four miles up over Wilde Hill. 1/25/20: Skied morning & afternoon; rain coming tonight. 1/26/20: Visted an ice-encrusted Monroe Falls. 1/26/20: Came upon this old foundation while exploring a new trail. 1/27/20: Avoided the slushy snow; biked nearby dirt roads. 1/28/20: Biked the pond by headlamp. 1/29/20: Found a few places where the water wanted to come out from under the ice. 1/30/20: Ice-biking & ice skating in golden light. 1/31/20: Paddled the Belfast shoreline.
